The No. 1 player in the world jump-started his round at the par-four eighth. He ran home a 60-foot birdie putt to reach seven-under par for the championship. Woods collected two birdies in a row from the 11th to get to minus-nine.

 

At the same time, DiMarco, who was tied with Woods until the eagle, missed a 20-foot par putt at the 17th. The three-shot swing left Woods in command and a four-foot birdie putt at 16 sent him to minus-12.

 

It might not matter in the long run. DiMarco birdied 18 to get within three, but Woods is as dialed in as he has been in a long time in a major championship.
